Mr Martini is a Verona (Italy) located workshop name, that somehow goes under the radar of the biggest blogs. And yet – they release multiple, high quality builds and win at least one or two major awards for them every year. Although they specialize in Triumph – You can find almost every brand in their portfolio.
California model – rebuilt as a brat style. Why this one? When You visit their website, there are about 80 builds listed (quite an impressive number). And this one is the most eye-catching 🙂 That’s it – as I couldn’t decide, I went for the first one I clicked. And not that it’s a random choice – it’s definitely worth sharing (the second one was Marley).
The donor bike was a Moto Guzzi California III from 1992. Presented first time at Motor Bike Expo in 2015. It was built for Filippo Magnini, Italian Olympic swimmer – hence the name. A donor bike –
not at all reminding of a cafe racer or brat style. But thanks to Lino Tonti’s straight frame – easily convert-able into a more universal grand tourer.
It was upgraded with Ohlins suspension and Zard exhaust. Custom painted Kawasaki tank, aluminium fenders and a yellow leather seat – turns the original bike into a smooth and narrow universal motorcycle. Yellow spark plug cables and the carpet below – give the photoshoot elegant and organic feel. Although California was never considered lightweight – with this customization it most certainly doesn’t look heavy.
And obviously – a custom leather bag is on its place. This is north of Italy – the cradle of renaissance and home of fashion. No wonder that so many great builders and design studios come from there…
