Moto Guzzi Nuovo Falcone by Medaza Cycles

I will admit, that I don’t know much about Nuovo Falcone. This fact is something that will change pretty soon; I’ll dig a little deeper to familiarise myself with the story. But I do know two things right now:

  1. Nuovo Falcone is not the best looking Italian motorcycle
  2. This engine, despite very average reputation – looks terrific. The good old days, where the accountants didn’t kill every idea on the spot and You could throw in some fantasy even to a thing like an engine cover.

Medaza Cycles grabbed my attention last week when I was gathering the list for Top 5 Ducati Pantah post. To that text, they contributed a build different than the rest. So when I investigated further – this thing appeared.

And it’s top class

This is an old project. And that makes it even more impressive. They won the AMD World Championship in Essen with this Moto Guzzi, called “Rondine” in 2013. And I’m shocked that this style and donor bike didn’t start an own style of building around this “flat single” engine.

“The Nuovo Falcone is considered the poor relation of the more venerable Falcone, so they’re a bit easier to source. In standard form they’re ugly as sin, but therein lay the challenge!”

This build made a large impression on me. It’s the rarity of the donor bike, the engine type, the looks, details incorporated into this “cafe racer”… and a beautiful Irish scenery on top of that.

Just look at this funky exhaust pipes in front of the engine, solid Harley Davidson V-Rod wheels with custom-made brake discs. Both rear and front symmetrical, with a hidden rear calliper. All this bare hand-sculpted metal. Front fork borrowed from Vincent and central shock of the rear suspension – also hidden, flat over the engine.

The attention to details, the beauty of this engine, where everything is right before Your eyes, with this big flywheel.

The proportions of the whole thing… It’s perfect! And in this video, You can also see it on the road.
