I just discovered this website – motoborgotaro.com. I saw few of their builds over the years, featured on blog pages and in the press. But I never checked their online presence. And what a treat this is. I’ve been browsing for about an hour now. And it was really difficult for me to decide which motorcycle to feature.
I chose a custom build – since it’s what this blog is mainly about. But the collection of classics sold and available for sale there is amazing.
About this Laverda SF2
It’s a classic story of a neglected piece of rusty metal, saved from oblivion by a builder.
Peter Boggia of Moto Borgotaro saw promise in the pile of parts. He bought it and hauled the project home, where it incubated as an idea for a long time before he touched it again. And then slowly, over the course of the last three years, the SF2 was brought back to its former glory, and then some.
And the result is really stylish. It’s not only basic and simple design. The bike is Italian, so no wonder… The attention to details is top notch. What else is important – this is a restomod… and a hardly visible one. This is not something You see often, considering how rare the donor bike is. It makes this build extra special.
What You obviously see from the start – are the velocity stacks instead of a stock airbox.
But the rest of changes is less visible.
Wheels look vintage but are strengthened over the stock ones. The wiring harness is modern (including RFID ignition). Brakes are stock, but the discs were drilled and lines were upgraded to stainless steel. The engine was rebuilt using SFC (Competizione) version parts. And the rear shocks – they look retro, but I believe they come from YSS.
Especially – take a look at this photo. How beautiful is this? This is my new wallpaper.
It’s so minimalistic! No cluster of dials, no cables… just classic styling and vintage simplicity. Single speedo, two LEDs built into the headlight (neutral and oil pressure). Small controls – only what is necessary. Even the paint job is simple.
