I don’t know if it’s me changing the front or maybe the smell of Autumn on the horizon… but again – Scrambler build is featured. This time is not based on an enduro bike, but quite the opposite – on a very retro UJM – Kawasaki W800.

W800 was a continuation of quite legendary W650… Kawasaki offered an air-cooled, parallel-twin engine, with shaft and bevel gear driven overhead cam – a good looking feature and a tribute to British twins from the 60’s.  This long stroke engine produces “only” 48 bhp… not impressive, but

its characteristic fits the retro style 🙂

So the most likely scenario is that You’ll find a W800 converted into a Cafe Racer. And yet – it’s not the case here. China located Mandrill Garage took the client’s W800 and converted it into a classic looking Scrambler.

The engine – probably it’s not the lightest around (the shaft adds some weight), and it’s not a “single”. But is almost perfect for offroad riding regarding its gentle long-stroke characteristics.

The mods include – aluminium tank (smaller and lighter), side covers and fenders. Small instrument. Longer and more “modern” rear shocks. Beautiful custom made exhaust pipes. High and strengthened handlebars. All these attributes making the bike lighter, standing higher and more offroad capable with a set of proper tires mounted.

Good looking donor bike converted into a good looking Scrambler (or Vintage MX as the builder classifies it).
